Anyone know a good brand or type of digital camera???

I heard Canon was the ideal…true??

Answer:
Hi

Not an easy question to answer at all. The 'best' cameras out there cost $8,000 or more; the Canon 1Ds Mark III and the Nikon D3 are considered to be the best. You don't need either, or anything close to them.

FIRST: Don't be fooled by the megapixel hype! You don't need more than 8mp. Don't buy a small point and shoot with 10 or 12MP because you think it's superior picture quality. IT'S NOT.

You want a camera with a protective window over the LCD screen so the screen doesn't crack while the camera is in your pocket or bag. Trust me.

Don't buy a Kodak. Just don't. Nikon has decent point and shoot cameras, but there's better available for the same money.

I think Canon SD series cameras are good quality, they’re fast and simple to use. Look for one with a window over the LCD like the SD750, SD1000, SD1100 etc. I don't know what you want to spend but some of the SD series are pricey.

The Sony DSC-W series are comparable to the Canon SD series and can range in price as well. Maybe look for a W90 or W120. The Sonys are also swift and decent quality like the Canon.

I don't have much experience with newer Olympus and yes their 'weather proof' cameras are a good idea but they are definitely NOT going to protect you 100% from water or dropping the camera on the floor. I think they’re a good quality camera, I just don't have as much experience with them to rate them.

Hope this is of some help.

Thomas D,

Owner - www.darntoothysam.com

Answer:
It really depends on what you’re looking for. Canon is over priced. Nikon is all advertising

If you want a compact point and shoot the Olympus Stylus SW series cameras are awesome. They’re shockproof, waterproof and freeze proof.

The Olympus E-420 DSLR is also a great value for an SLR.

Answer:
ok well this day i purchased my Sony cyber shot.. this camera is just amazing it has 10.1 megapixels .. its just wonderfull.. ideal camera ive used touched seen.. etc.. lol well the normal price is $300.00 but i payed 20 more for the warranty thing ….. and 20 for da case… its worth it and the ideal camera ive had so far.. ive been through all of them.. Kodak, Nikon, panasonic , cannon !!! but the Sony cyber shots are the ideal…….. i dont have words to describe it lolololol well hope i helped aand if u purchase this camera u wont regret it

Answer:
I think so. Though the Nikon can be great for clarity! Hope that helps, dear =]

Thanks for looking!!

Answer:
Hi

It sounds like your mum does not yet know about the damage. The camera will have to go in for repair they are too complicated to fix yourself. You might be covered for the damage if you have contents insurance, this might be your saving grace.

Regards.

Answer:
A camera repair shop or electronics store will want $150-200 to repair your camera. You’re far better off buying a defective camera on the web with a good lens and swapping them out, or finding somebody on the web that does repairs like we do. www.darntoothysam.com if you need help with the repair.

I am thinking of buying an SLR.

But I do not know what to select.

What kind of Canon digital SLR would be best?

Answer:
It depends how much you want to spend. The 20D is a great camera. It will be the Cheapest that has the 8MP sensor. The 30D will be a bit more than the 20D, but really isn't much different. If you want to spend a bit more money, I would get the 40D. It has a 10MP sensor and a faster burst rate (6.5 frames per second vs 5fps on the 20 and 30D). The 20D on eBay will run you about $350-$400 for the body. I wouldn't even worry about the 30D, and the 40D will run you about $700-800. The 20D is an excellent camera and will leave you more money for lenses and such. I also wouldn't consider the Rebels. They are appealing because you can get a new one for a low price, but they don't compare to the D series cameras. For your first camera I would advocate the 20D because it is the most camera for the least money. Unless you just have lots of money to blow, then go for the 40D or hell, the 50D or 5D Mark II.

Answer:
Canon EOS 50D 15.1MP Digital SLR Camera

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…

Answer:
A 50D will be nice. However, you may be able to get a better deal in 40D since it is an older model.

Now i take a lot of pictures and shoot video for my youtube channel so i need something with good quality. If someone can advocate a good one that can have a lot of memory.

Answer:
i don't know about your price range.i will recommend in under $350.

I used my mom's camera a couple days ago and it was just fine. I sat it on my dresser and when I turned it on this day it turned on…. but the screen was black and I couldn't turn it back off. I took it to my sister's room (where it usually is) and put it on the charger, wondering how the battery could be dead if it was off for 2 days. The light lit up on the charger but my sister said that the light went off a few minutes in and now the camera isn't responding to anything. It's an Exilim 7.2 mega pixel from Casio. It's new… and my mother paid a lot of money for it, money I can't afford to give her for 'breaking' it. Any idea what's wrong?

Answer:
Call Casio (973) 361-5400 and ask what you can do. If the camera wasn't dropped, the warranty should cover it. The warranty is with the company, not the store where it was purchased.

I don't believe that’s a toll free number, so you will get a bill for the phone call.

Answer:
Dunno but if it's new it should be under warranty and it should be worth asking at the retailer from which it was purchased. Even if out of warranty they should be able to give some advice

Answer:
depends on how dark exactly. Though I personally have this camera and it works fine. I have no trouble taking pictures at the recent plays and recitals that i have gone to. . . that were dark.

thanks!
Answer: 50D has 15MP vs 10MP on the 40D
50D has higher ISO expansion
50D is Compact Flash UDMA compatible, which means it accepts the new faster CF cards, but the 40D does fine without this.

thanks!

Answer:
50D has 15MP vs 10MP on the 40D

50D has higher ISO expansion

50D is Compact Flash UDMA compatible, which means it accepts the new faster CF cards, but the 40D does fine without this.

Both shoot about the same burst rate, 40D 6.5 fps 50D 6.3 fps

Both have a large buffer

You can't go wrong with either camera. The 50D is the upgrade of the 40D so it's obviously the more powerful camera, but it is also brand new and about $1500. You can find mint condition used 40D's on ebay for less than $800. It's still too early to get used 50D's.

Answer:
Very little difference. 50D has ISO up to 6400 and 12800 vs only 3200 of the 40D. 12800 is said to be unusable. 50D supposedly has better live view, a digic IV vs a digic III, and improved weather sealing. You also have another smaller RAW file I believe and it has a 15 mega pixel sensor rather than 10. There are some other smaller changes but I think that covers all the major ones. I believe dpreview.com has a good review of the 50D.

Answer:
the 50 d is more pricey and less user friendly

it does have more mega pixels and ability

but for your quality and buy the 40 d is probably a superior option

Answer:
dpreview.com has a complete list of differences. See the link below.

My passion is taking photos of children/ people in general.

But my point and shoot just isn't cutting it for me, and i want an upgrade…. fast!

My birthday is coming up and i have a budget up to about $650.00.

I would only select between Nikon and Canon.

Help!

Answer:
I'd suggest to get either Canon XS or XSi.

Answer:
I just bought the Olympus E-420 the smallest SLR camera made to date.

I love it. I took photos on vacation, of my children, grandchildren, and scenery.

I also have an Olympus point and shoot , the C-765. I’ve dropped it and bent the lens, bent it back and it still worked. Dropped it in a lake when I was fishing with hubby, retrieved it and after it dried out it still worked.

I just love Olympus !

But if I had to selected between the Canon or Nikon I would get the Nikon. Right in your budget range for both.

Answer:
Here's different camera's that you could look at.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_…

I hear that Sony is getting superior you might want to look. If not that's fine. Good luck finding your camera.

Answer:
Nikon is by far the ideal.

Answer:
There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The following link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/ …

What gives a camera its picture quality? The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality photos. The lens and camera are very important, but the capability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great photos.

Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen. Would recommend that you find one that also has an optical view finder because the LCD screen is almost impossible to see in bright sun.

Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more pricey, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you’re making a really huge picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. http://www.Kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.j… …

Lots of great camera tips in these two links. http://www.danscamera.com/Learning/going… …

http://www.Kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.j… …

Check this camera. Fujifilm - FinePix 10.0-Megapixel Digital. This is more camera for the money.

Wide-angle shooting, a 12x optical zoom and picture stabilization mode combine in this camera for exceptional shooting performance, even at a distance. Plentiful scene modes, autofocus and automatic white balance controls make this camera a snap to operate. Life time Warranty (Parts & Labor). You might be able to find it on the Internet for a lower price ($144), but be careful of the vendor.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?… …

This could be the best trim line camera. It's PINK!

http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Sony Cyber… …

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.

My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures bigger works better on the personal. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes … like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. You may be able to view the owners manual at this link. http://www.retrevo.com/s/digital camera …

The source links will show most of the cameras out there with prices and help make your Digital Cameras work superior.
